Your journey May you both go on a journey along with some small animals to their new town, where they can live in peace and safety. The animals You will meet water shrews, beavers, deer mice, flying squirrels, grasshopper mice, jackrabbits, marmots, kangaroo rats, muskrats, packrats, pocket gophers, prairie dogs, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, starnosed moles, voles and woodchucks. The LittleTowners You and the child will sit at the feet of Grace the Librarian, the gentle little deer mouse, as her wise words shape the little ones. Feel her fear as little blind Vola, the flying squirrel, has to learn to fly all over again. Watch an angry Teacher gnaw down tree after tree with his huge beaver teeth to remove mistakes made by the grasshopper mice twins, He and Me. See the brave mole, once swept along by the oil in a pipeline, rule over the LittleTown court as The Judge. Discover how the smart, bubbly water shrew Pal Silver saves Ms Muskrat, who is trapped under water in a cage. And you will both wince with the little ones as they are injected with a huge syringe on Get-Well-Hill to save them from the plague, and laugh with them as they learn to play football with an acorn. Follow Kanga the Kangaroo Rat as he fights a rattlesnake that crept into his burrow. Laugh with them as they help Mr Packrat bargain for a telephone. Listen when The Chicago Kid faces a trial presided over by The Judge. Plot with the two little voles, Timid Timmy and Timid Tania, to trap a weasel. Visit Chien's Thumbs, the hidden studio of the little prairie dog where his portraits are kept secret for as long as his models want them to be. Listen to The Chicago Kid explain the adventures his friend had at the President's White House, and find out why the first pocket gopher born in LittleTown was named Talpo. Children up to 12 (perhaps older) will enjoy the tangled webs the LittleTowners weave as they grapple with life in their new home.
