Le seau enlevé is a French translation of Alessandro Tassoni's La secchia rapita, a mock-heroic epic poem first published in 1622. The poem recounts a humorous war between Modena and Bologna sparked by the theft of a wooden bucket. Tassoni's work is celebrated for its wit, satire, and inventive use of language, and for its playful engagement with the conventions of epic poetry.
This edition offers readers the chance to appreciate Tassoni's work in French. Alessandro Tassoni (1565-1635) was an Italian poet and writer. His work remains a significant contribution to Italian literature and European intellectual history.
