A tough ex-cop turned private investigator.
A desert town hiding deadly secrets.
A missing girl...and a mystery not of this world.

Former NYPD officer Lana Taylor expects routine missing persons work when a wealthy New York City businessman hires her to find his runaway teenage daughter. But the trail leads her to Desert Mesa, Arizona, a seemingly ordinary rural Arizona desert town that hides extraordinary terror.

The townspeople greet Lana kindly, then abruptly turn hostile when she produces a photograph of the runaway. A mysterious old man in a black suit, with a scarred face and unsettling eyes, appears again and again, his presence triggering fear in those around him. At the bar, the grocer, even the hair salon, Lana's questions are met with nervous denials and sudden reversals of friendliness.

Refusing to abandon the runaway, Lana digs deeper. Sheriff Reeves, who becomes her romantic foil, is helpful but seems compromised by the same pall of fear that grips the town. Strange lights in the desert sky, unexplained deaths, and whispered rumors suggest forces beyond ordinary crime, forces beyond this world.

As Lana follows the trail, she stumbles onto evidence of strange beings who walk among the townspeople, feeding on more than fear. Every clue draws her deeper into their world - a place of hidden caves, stolen blood, and mystery. Her investigation becomes a desperate fight for the runaway girl and for survival.

Fans of noir detectives and sci-fi horror will devour Lana Taylor, Private Eye - the pulse-pounding first entry in a series where crime meets the unearthly.
