Lacey's Legacy is the first in a series of children's books inspired to foster communication about life lessons such as acceptance, courage, self-respect and more. The stories take place at Hemlock Farm, a therapeutic horseback riding stable. The horses tell stories about their own life lessons and what they have learned. In Lacey's Legacy readers meet the first horse to arrive at the stable, Lacey, a golden palomino Quarter Horse mare. Lacey tells children about her experiences at the farm with therapeutic riding and a young rider with cerebral palsy. The book is beautifully illustrated and geared toward younger readers. At the end of the story the book contains vocabulary words to promote discussion about therapeutic riding, cerebral palsy and equine (horse) words. The author is a certified therapeutic riding instructor and has based these stories on actual experiences. It is her hope to educate young readers about the importance of accepting others who have special challenges. It is also her hope to promote/foster the love of reading in our youth.
