Luce Irigaray has influenced contemporary feminism. She has transformed the traditional conception of women. For her, women are autonomous subjects. In doing so, she has brought about a discursive revolution in relation to phallocentric discourse. So, how can these ideas truly help redefine women's identity? The objective of this article is to understand how Irigaray positions women as autonomous subjects. Our hypothesis is that the celebration of sexual difference serves as the foundation for understanding the relationships between men and women. To achieve our objective, we employed a qualitative methodology by analyzing the writings of Irigaray and certain contemporary feminist thinkers. This approach led us to conclude that rewriting history through language is an indispensable tool for women to reclaim their identity as autonomous subjects. First, an ethical framework must be adopted, and then a structure must be created to allow each gender to express itself freely. This inclusive approach will contribute to the recognition of and equal rights to discourse for both women and men.
