Ready, Set, Camp! follows Carter Liu as he prepares for his first day at summer camp. While his older sister Lily is excited to return, Carter feels nervous about meeting new campers and trying unfamiliar activities.
Throughout the day, Carter participates in nature walks, arts and crafts, games, and water play alongside his fellow campers. As he explores the camp environment and connects with new friends, he gradually gains confidence and begins to enjoy the experience. When Carter discovers a shiny blue rock during a nature walk, the moment becomes a symbol of his growing sense of curiosity and pride.
This story supports key social-emotional learning themes, including managing anxiety in new settings, building self-confidence, developing peer relationships, and engaging with community experiences.
Designed for children ages 4-8 and kids in grades Kindergarten to third grade (K-3), Ready, Set, Camp! is well suited for classroom read-alouds, summer reading programs, and family story time. The book provides an accessible narrative that helps young readers understand that new experiences can lead to personal growth, friendship, and discovery.
Part of the Little Ruth Children's Collection, this story encourages children to approach new environments with curiosity, resilience, and confidence.
