Return to the beloved world of the March sisters in a beautiful edition made for reading, sharing, and treasuring. The exquisite illustrations of Marjolein Bastin meet timeless text in this elegant special edition of Louisa May Alcott's American literary masterpiece.

Discover anew the world of Little Women - the 1860s, the turbulent days of the American Civil War, and four sisters as different as they could be: Meg, who likes to approach everything rationally and reasonably; Jo, a nonconformist with literary ambitions; tender Beth, who tries to keep the peace; and Amy, the baby of the family who tends to take herself and her position in society a little too seriously. While their father is off fighting the war, the four girls must learn to get by with just their mother while realizing that it isn't easy for young women to establish their place in the world. Despite numerous obstacles, the sisters carry on and become independent adults, each in her own way, but without losing sight of the importance of family.

Warm, funny, and deeply moving, Little Women explores family loyalty, creative ambition, sacrifice, grief, independence, and the many different ways a woman can build a fulfilling future. Louisa May Alcott's characters have inspired generations because they are imperfect, spirited, and constantly learning how to balance their individual dreams with their love for one another.

This elegant Marjolein Bastin Classics edition enriches the March family's world with delicate botanical illustrations and period-inspired details. Special additions--including a self-made newspaper, a map, an invitation, and other elaborately designed ephemera--invite fans of literary classics and strong heroines to experience the sisters' stories, celebrations, and imaginative lives in a more personal way.
