That's the promise on page four, and every page keeps it. The Little Signals Activity Book is a draw-and-notice book for children aged 4-8 - built around one simple idea: feelings start in the body, and a child who can notice their signals can learn what to do with them.
The book opens by helping children find their own signals - where feelings live in the body, what today's weather feels like, which bean matches their body (fast, flat, squeezy, or steady). Then it delivers two kinds of pages, clearly signposted so children always know which is which:
Pages for scribbling hard - for fast and squeezy bodies. The storm scribble (let it all out - storms don't stay on the lines), the dinosaur stomp trail, shake-it-out zigzags, push the wall, and squeeze & release. Somatic energy release disguised as scribbling, which is exactly what it is.
Pages for going slow - for heavy, flat, and nearly-bedtime bodies. The worry jar (draw the worry, then draw a big heavy lid on top), the bedtime eye-spy (stay perfectly still - only your eyes may move - and find five soft things in your room), the sleepy stone slow-colouring page, night waves to trace, and a shape for every busy thought.
Plus twelve daily check-in pages at the back - a one-minute ritual: draw today's weather, give Bean today's face, name one signal, trace one slow wave. Just noticing counts. It always counts.
