It seems to be going nowhere.

But Joel knows something that Chief Petrovic doesn't: the cabin is haunted-the ghost of the victim is still there, and Joel, with his newfound gift, can uncover secrets that only the dead know. But how is Joel to communicate this spectral information to the chief without exposing his own secret? Through creative hints and accidental discoveries, Joel helps the chief unravel a tangled web of lies, greed, shame, and jealousy which will once and for all put the case to rest-they hope.

Although four years will pass before Joel is ready to join the Chaseford police department (see the second book, Where's the Rest of the Body? for details) an enduring partnership has been formed: Joel will help keep Chaseford safe, and Chief Petrovic will teach him everything he knows.
