This book continues the adventures of Carlton Russell. CR escapes from Fairfax, Virginia to head down to the Outer Banks, North Carolina to help his friend Roger Bennett with a little problem which soon turns into a big problem. Once CR settles that problem he believes he can finally enjoy the sunshine and beach in peace and quiet.

CR soon learns that no good deed goes unpunished and when a good looking caterer asks him to talk to her sister, Peggy, because of some monkey business at her biscuit shop he agrees. I mean what harm could that do? However, finding a naked dead man in Peggy's freezer wasn't exactly the best way to endear him police Lieutenant Candice Gull who was already annoyed with him butting in on her investigations. CR must figure out who really murdered the naked guy and why before he is either thrown in jail or off a pier at low tide. Oh, did I mention he also has to figure out how to unload two million dollars in stolen diamonds before he gets caught with them and before the real diamond thieves get them back the hard way.
