Edward Benjamin Britten, Baron Britten OM CH (1913 - 1976) was an English conductor, composer, and pianist. He was a significant figure in 20th-century British classical music, and is not famous for Peter Grimes (1945), the War Requiem (1962) and The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (1945).
