Perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and beginner readers, this delightful rhyming story introduces eleven lovable woodland animal friends as they travel through a snowy forest with a gentle but tattered moose named Ugly. Together, they journey to Momma and Poppa Bear's house for a Christmas Eve celebration.
When the friends discover they have forgotten the Christmas tree, Ugly makes a selfless sacrifice that saves the celebration and reminds everyone what Christmas is truly about. Along the way, young readers learn valuable lessons about kindness, acceptance, and why hurtful names and excluding others because they are different can have lasting effects. In the end, the woodland friends welcome Ugly into their group with love and gratitude. They give him a new name, Chris Moose, because it sounds like Christmas and reflects the generous spirit he shares with everyone around him.
Filled with memorable animals' stories, warm friendship, gentle humor, and Christie Morris's enchanting illustrations, The Legend of Chris Moose is a timeless Christmas picture book that families will enjoy reading together year after year.
