This is an international thriller that starts with two prefaces describing the birth of a mysterious katana, the last forged by the fabled Muramasa, a craftsman much talked about in ancient Japanese stories. Due to a series of events that are narrated in the preface, the sword in question ends up in the hands of Diego Malmerendi, an Italian hitman with a dark past. Then the never-dissolved and powerful neo-Nazi sects and even the Roman Church come into play. Thus is set in motion a deadly hunt for the Italian possessor of the mysterious Katana, which is joined by an ineffable female character, Laura, a beautiful 'femme fatale' with a mysterious childhood. With numerous narrative leaps into the past, the plot becomes increasingly gripping and enthralling, I would almost say frenetic, enriched by very interesting characters, until Muramasa's last katana finds the source of his material, the key to access a misunderstood world into which both Diego and Laura will be plunged.... The year 2039 is near, the asteroid is about to pass close to the Earth, very close, and this deadline seems to be linked to the not at all predictable epilogue of this anomalous thriller to be read in one go. Highly recommended for lovers of oriental stories and all those who want action and mystery.
