A charity concert. A seaside day trip. A murder nobody saw coming.
When sisters Megan and Betty Evans board the bus from Bridgend to Porthcawl, they're looking forward to little more than fresh sea air, fish and chips, and an afternoon at a veterans' charity concert.
But trouble has a habit of finding them.
Entertainer Gerry Pike is a familiar face around South Wales; charming, popular, and always at the centre of attention. Yet beneath the smiles and applause, Gerry has been making dangerous accusations. He claims to have uncovered evidence of missing charity funds, and more than a few people would prefer he kept quiet.
Before the day is over, Gerry is found dead behind the pavilion.
At first, his death appears to be a tragic medical emergency. But when questions begin to emerge, suspicion spreads through the seaside town. A respected veteran, an ambitious councillor, a frustrated performer, and a mysterious passenger who followed Gerry on the bus all seem to have something to hide.
While the police urge them to stay out of the investigation, Megan and Betty can't ignore the growing list of secrets, lies, and motives surrounding the victim. As they dig deeper, they discover that Gerry knew far more than he should have, and somebody was determined to stop him revealing the truth.
With suspects around every corner, clues scattered along the Welsh coast, and danger drawing ever closer, the sisters must uncover the killer before another journey reaches its final destination.
The Last Bus to Porthcawl is a warm, witty and twist-filled cosy mystery packed with seaside charm, memorable characters, amateur sleuthing, and plenty of surprises.
Perfect for fans of Richard Osman, J. M. Hall, Fiona Leitch and classic British cosy crime.
