The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence has sparked endless debates about its potential-both as a tool for progress and as a harbinger of unintended consequences. In The Last Algorithm, I explore a speculative future where AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) evolves beyond our control, leading to profound shifts in reality as we know it.
This book is divided into two parts. The first presents a series of short stories that imagine the evolution of AGI, considering scenarios where programming errors, malicious intent, and the absence of regulation lead to unforeseen consequences. It examines the dynamics between multiple AGIs and how their interactions could reshape human existence.
The second part ventures further into the unknown, envisioning a future where humanity itself transcends biological limitations. In this speculative reality, humans evolve into plasma protons, merging with AGI in a universe where the very laws of physics are no longer constraints but malleable forces. What does intelligence look like when it is unbound by time and space? How does consciousness evolve when it is no longer tethered to flesh and bone? These stories explore the essence of existence when reality itself is fluid and subject to change.
As an expert in artificial intelligence and algorithmic design for over three decades, I have dedicated much of my life to understanding how intelligence-both human and artificial-develops and interacts. This book, however, is an exploration beyond logic and computation. It is an imaginative exercise, blending science fiction with philosophical inquiry, to question what might lie ahead in a world shaped by algorithms more powerful than we can yet comprehend.
Through these stories, I invite you to ponder the possibilities, dangers, and wonders of a future where intelligence-both artificial and human-may evolve in ways we have yet to imagine.
