The story follows twelve-year-old Wren Calloway, who is sent to spend the summer with a grandmother she barely knows in the small coastal town of Thistlewick Cove. What begins as an unwanted summer away from home soon becomes something much stranger.
Wren discovers her late grandfather's journal, an old tradition the town has abandoned, and a mysterious presence connected to the ancient Hollow Oak in the center of town. As she learns more about the Lantern Tide festival, she also begins uncovering the family secrets that have kept her mother and grandmother apart.
With the help of Milo, a skeptical local boy, Wren finds herself drawn into a forgotten tradition that the town may desperately need to remember.
But bringing the festival back is about more than lanterns, songs, and an old legend. It means facing grief, old mistakes, and the things families sometimes leave unsaid.
The Lantern at Thistlewick Cove is a warm, magical middle-grade story about friendship, family, courage, forgiveness, and finding your way home.
