Jude the Obscure is a novel written by Thomas Hardy, first published in 1895. The story follows the life of Jude Fawley, a young man from a poor family in rural England, who dreams of becoming a scholar. Despite his lack of education, Jude is determined to study at the prestigious Christminster University, and he works hard to save enough money to enroll. Along the way, he falls in love with his cousin Sue Bridehead, a free-spirited and unconventional woman who shares his intellectual interests. However, their relationship is complicated by societal norms and expectations, as well as by their own personal struggles and flaws. As Jude and Sue navigate the challenges of their lives, they must confront the harsh realities of poverty, classism, sexism, and religious intolerance, all of which threaten to crush their dreams and destroy their love. The novel is a powerful critique of Victorian society and its values, as well as a poignant exploration of human relationships, identity, and destiny. It is considered one of Hardy's greatest works and a masterpiece of English literature. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1895 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
