Dutch Holland can enjoy his luxurious lifestyle only so long as he continues to work for his father-in-law, Jason Stuart. There's only one reason that Jason keeps him on the payroll. Dutch is married to Jason's daughter, Eunice, but his pretense of being a devoted husband doesn't fool Jason. Dutch is in a torrid affair with Roslyn. She's beautiful and she is hot. By comparison, Dutch sees his wife, Eunice, as having grown unattractive and boring. However, leaving her is not an option. She is his haven of protection against her father. It's a stand-off. Jason would fire Dutch in a heartbeat but he's unwilling to risk the possibility of estrangement from his own daughter while Dutch knows that, with Eunice out of the picture, the comforts and perks to which he has become accustomed would disappear in an instant. Their impasse becomes impregnable. Dutch seethes with an impotent rage. He detests Jason. While his hatred of Jason obsesses him, Dutch has nothing to fear from Harlan Bristow. Harlan is Jason's closest friend. He and Jason are very much alike. In every way. Their looks, their mannerisms, their core values. They could be taken for brothers. Unlike Jason, though, Harlan holds no sword of Damocles over Dutch's head. Without realizing that he does it, Dutch transfers his hatred for Jason onto Harlan. With tragic consequences that bring his own son face-to-face with a horrifying death.
