This memoir follows two years of that decision: hospital rooms and starting lines, chemotherapy and training sessions, despair and dark humor, prayer and grit. It moves between construction sites and racecourses, family expectations and the solitude of endurance, the weight of suffering and the surprising lightness of faith.
Along the way, he learned to say a radical thing out loud: Cancer can have my body, but not my mind, heart, or soul.
Part survival story and part philosophy, this book weaves hard-won lessons into what he calls the DSSP formula-discipline, sacrifice, suffering, and pain. It's not about punishment, but about treading a path to freedom. Each chapter pairs a raw moment with a way of thinking that helped him stop fearing the finish line and start running toward it.
