A new neighbour has arrived-but who could it be?
Jack and his best friend Quoll love exploring the Australian bush and learning about the incredible animals that live around them. Today they're setting off on a special adventure to meet the newest animal in the neighbourhood. There's just one problem: they have no idea who it is.
As they journey through rainforests, rivers, grasslands and eucalyptus forests, Jack and Quoll meet some of Australia's most fascinating native animals. Kookaburra makes them laugh with his famous chuckle. Cassowary proudly shows them the rainforest she calls home. Tree Kangaroo leaps through the canopy, Crocodile waits patiently in the water, Kangaroo bounds across the plains, Echidna searches for ants, Turtle glides through the river and Koala watches from high in the gum trees.
Every animal shares one important clue about the mystery newcomer. It might have a beak. It might love the rainforest. Perhaps it has a thick tail, lays eggs, has webbed feet or soft fur. With each page, young readers are encouraged to stop, think and make their own predictions before turning the page to discover the next clue.
The repetitive, interactive format makes Jack's Animal Day perfect for reading aloud, helping children build confidence, develop observation skills and actively participate in the story. Rather than simply introducing Australian animals, the book invites children to become detectives, using what they've learned to solve the mystery alongside Jack.
Created especially for children aged 2-7, this beautifully illustrated picture book celebrates Australia's extraordinary wildlife while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking and a love of nature. Parents, grandparents, teachers and librarians will enjoy the engaging read-aloud rhythm, while young animal lovers will delight in spotting familiar favourites and discovering what makes each creature unique.
Whether you're introducing children to Australian wildlife for the first time or celebrating the amazing animals that live in our own backyard, Jack's Animal Day is a joyful adventure full of laughter, learning and one unforgettable surprise waiting at the end.
