IMAGINATION EXPLOSION follows Roger, a sixteen-year-old surfer drafted in 1975 by a secretive Regime to fight a devastating, twenty-year intergalactic war against the crystalline Crexons. In relative time, Roger ages into Regime Prime, a hardened, thirty-six-year-old soldier whose genius for tactical calculation makes him humanity's most lethal weapon. During a catastrophic final battle in Jupiter's orbit, Roger is mortally wounded. Instead of dying, his consciousness stripped of all subjective memory but retaining all combat trauma is violently ejected and sent back to his original body in 1975, the moment after he left. Roger awakens as a sixteen-year-old with twenty years of phantom PTSD. The amnesiac veteran spends the next two decades as a broken genius: a hooligan, a dropout, and a Special Operations soldier haunted by the physical scar on his thumb knuckle and an inexplicable need for chaos. He excels only in high-stakes environments because the mundane world feels fake. In the late 1990s, the dormant tracking chip in his knuckle activates. The glow instantly restores his full combat memory. Roger realizes he isn't a burnout he is a warrior placed in deep-sleep reserve. The Crexons have found Earth, and the war he fought and forgot is about to begin again in his own time.
