Belinda Marsh is an attractive woman who has had a fairly successful career in Music and the Theatre. She is approaching forty and realises that she has had very little luck in her relationships with men. She buries herself in her work to forget her failures but it does not work. A chance meeting with an older man upsets her plans for a solitary life. She becomes deeply involved in his problems and is undecided whether it is the right thing to do. Their relationship during the Summer of 2003 moves along at quite a pace and she feels that fate has something to do with it. The long term effects of their relationship is in doubt. Her life-long friend lends a hand but is her help led by selfishness or friendship. The discovery of her mother's diaries add another perspective to their future. There are things from their past that neither of them knew about and Belinda uncovers the truth about herself as well as the secrets of her older companion. Everything is not as it appears and do they want it known? A complex tale unfolds and Belinda is left to decide her own future. How does she cope?
