La Secchia Rapita (The Stolen Bucket) is a mock-heroic epic poem by Alessandro Tassoni, first published in 1622. This edition includes also Il Primo Canto dell'Oceano.
The poem recounts a fictional war between Modena and Bologna, sparked by the theft of a wooden bucket. Tassoni masterfully blends classical epic conventions with witty and satirical elements, creating a unique and enduring work of Italian literature. La Secchia Rapita is celebrated for its vibrant characters, playful language, and insightful commentary on the politics and society of its time.
This edition offers readers a chance to experience Tassoni's masterpiece, a cornerstone of Italian literary history.
