This is the true story of Somalay Sinai. In 1970s Cambodia, 10-year-old Somalay is separated from her family by the Khmer Rouge. Alone in a world fracturing around her, Somalay herself breaks into two characters who must find their way through the jungle to food and help. Through a miraculous series of events, Somalay is eventually set on the path to finding her lost family. As they reconnect, it is obvious that their experiences have wounded them.
