The aim of this book is to highlight the importance of developing intercultural competence in first-year undergraduate students of French at the University of Mouloud Mammeri in Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria. It is intended for students, teachers and doctoral students interested in intercultural issues in language-culture didactics. The results of our field research indicate that the language classroom enables students to open up to the world and discover other cultures and ways of life. In this way, we can see that research participants are aware of the intercultural differences that exist between Algerian culture (target) and French culture (foreign), and that these intercultural differences enable them to look at the world through the eyes of the other. That's why we're proposing an intercultural training scheme to develop intercultural competence in the research audience, to help them become more open to other cultures, and to respect and accept others.
