It is the story of a woman learning that the self she has been quietly withholding from the world is not too much - that a place can hold her, that a person can see her, and that being received is not the same thing as being diminished. The Aldermoor Inn is full of magic: doors that open themselves, wallpaper that blooms overnight, a long-term resident named Pell who has occupied room twelve since before anyone can account for. But the deepest magic is the slower kind - the kind that happens when you stop apologizing for the space you occupy, and let something good be true.
