Mina Vasell arrived on set with a borrowed name, a sealed history, and a plan: four months of structured visibility in a format where being watched is the explicit agreement. It's the safest kind of exposure she can imagine. What she doesn't account for is the head writer - a woman who moves through rooms without performing anything, who pulls a villain edit and replaces it with something honest, who seems to see the real version of Mina underneath the version Mina is performing. And who, inexplicably, keeps not looking.
What begins as professional proximity - two women on the same production, navigating the architecture of a show built around love - becomes something far more complicated. A conversation in a production van during a rainstorm. Late evenings in a greenroom between two other rooms. A folder on a hard drive, unlabeled, filling slowly with footage that was never meant to be kept.
But Mina is carrying something that could end the life she's built - and someone in the building has noticed the seam. As Darce begins to understand the threat gathering at the edges of production, she faces the only choice her decade of story-building has never prepared her for: how to protect someone else's narrative without making herself the author of it.
Greenroom Rules is a slow-burn contemporary romance about two women who have built entire careers - and entire selves - around the art of controlled revelation. It's about the villain edit you pull because the other version would be a lie. It's about the four seconds of unguarded footage that you rewind, and rewind again, and save in a folder with no name. It's about what it means to choose the true thing over the assigned thing, even when the true thing costs you the distance you've mistaken for safety.
For Darce, the question is whether she can stop narrating from the outside and actually be inside her own story. For Mina, the question is whether there's still a self worth finding underneath four years of perfect maintenance - and whether she can give it to someone before someone else takes it from her.
Some stories you build from the raw material. Some stories find you in an empty room, at the end of a long day, when you've stopped performing anything and the coffee machine is the only sound.
