In The Shadow Of Sinai: A Story Of Travel And Research From 1895 To 1897 is a non-fiction book written by Agnes Smith Lewis and published in 1898. The book is a personal account of the author's travels and research in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula. Agnes Smith Lewis, along with her sister Margaret Dunlop Gibson, embarked on a journey to the Middle East in 1895 with the aim of studying and transcribing ancient manuscripts in various languages. The book describes their travels across the desert, their encounters with Bedouin tribes, and their experiences in the monasteries of Sinai. The author provides detailed descriptions of the landscapes, people, and customs of the region, and also includes translations of some of the manuscripts they studied. The book is a fascinating account of a journey into a remote and little-known part of the world, and provides valuable insights into the history and culture of the Middle East at the turn of the 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
