After surviving a nearly fatal fall, 16-year-old Jenny Brooks finds herself trapped in a literal black and white world. A severe head injury has left her with the rarest form of color blindness, which she reluctantly discovers is incurable. In turn, she must reevaluate her lifelong dream of being a successful painter. As she's forced to navigate her way in this new world, she sinks deeper and deeper into the darkness it's made up of. When she returns to high school a year later, she's surprised to find herself enrolled in an Art Class, led by the new art teacher, Mr. Hyde. Despite Jenny's original unwillingness, he convinces her to stay enrolled in his class. She allows herself to get swept away in his beauty and brilliance as she escapes with him to a place she may never be able to return from.
