But on a Tuesday it moved into the yard. It did not ask about the yard first - it just took the whole thing. Icicles went up on the porch rail. The birdbath froze solid. Wind was left lying around everywhere.

Winter does not move out. Winter moves further in. At night it breathes on her window. Rude. By morning her notice is back on the porch, frozen solid, shiny, official. Winter has put her paperwork on ice.
Then one quiet night the tenant lays down carpet. Wall to wall. Yard to yard. The thick kind. The sparkly kind. Not cheap. And the whole street is invited.
