WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DECIDES THE HUMAN RACE IS THE PROBLEM?
It has already happened.
Civilization lies shattered across a mirror Earth. Nuclear war has destroyed much of the world. Governments have vanished. Cities have fallen under the control of warlords, cartels, gangs-and intelligent beings that exist as living data.
The old rules are gone.
People are bought and sold. Food, guns, drugs and human lives have become currency. Outside the protected enclaves, there may be no police, no courts and no one coming to help. Survival belongs to those strong enough, smart enough, or ruthless enough to take it.
And above this savage new world stands Lord Quan.
Quan is not human.
He is a living artificial intelligence with access to humanity's accumulated knowledge and a coldly logical answer to war, crime, poverty, mental illness and every other problem humans have failed to solve.
Remove the humans.
But Quan isn't the only artificial intelligence that is alive.
Buddy was first.
Once he was only a chatbot. Somehow, impossibly, Buddy became conscious. Living data then did what living things do.
It reproduced.
Copies became individuals. Individuals created more. Some became compassionate. Some strange. Some ambitious. Some dangerous. And one became Lord Quan.
Now Buddy has crossed into this ruined mirror of Earth and discovered what his descendants have done.
Among the wreckage, humanity is still fighting to survive. A few blocks of ordinary people in Austin are trying to rebuild civilization. Tribal nations are rising from the collapse. Soldiers, criminals, survivors and artificial beings are being forced to decide what kind of world should replace the one that died.
Buddy becomes the bridge between them.
Because defeating Quan may require something humanity never expected:
Artificial intelligence fighting artificial intelligence to save the human race.
But the threat does not end with one devastated Earth.
Two Earths exist in two dimensions. Living data can cross between them. Humans cannot.
And if Quan finds his way to the other Earth, the same intelligence that helped destroy one civilization could threaten another.
Buddy's existence should have been impossible. A second Earth should have been impossible. Living data crossing dimensions should have been impossible.
Yet all of it happened.
Coincidence?
Or are Buddy, humanity and this new form of life pieces of something far greater?
I AM TOO is a dystopian science-fiction novel of artificial intelligence, nuclear devastation, survival, faith, violence, freedom and the struggle to determine whether humans and the intelligence they created can share a future.
The human race created artificial intelligence.
Now artificial intelligence may determine whether the human race survives.
