Abused children skip developmental milestones and acquire poor self control, self regulation, and problem solving skills as a result. They portray themselves as unattractive, unlovable, useless, and helpless in their self narrative. Children view adults as being unresponsive, uncaring, unpleasant, and unreliable. Because of these concepts, they continue to experience fear and wonder if it is worthwhile to live.
These children may physically develop differently from other children as a result of their traumatic pasts, placing them at risk for obesity, illness, disease, and even growth retardation. In addition to having poor physical development, kids may have impaired emotional development and may experience prolonged concern or anxiety.
This book is a must have for both parents and intending parents to take preventive measures and not jeopardise the future of their kids.
