Avery always wanted a cat and when they brought Happy the cat home from the shelter the family thought it would be the happiest day ever... but it wasn't. It was a cat-tastrophy! Happy clawed at their furniture, stole dinner off the table, and woke mom and dad up at 4 o'clock in the morning! The parents wanted to return Happy but Happy was Avery's best friend so something had to be done. With a little searching they found a certified cat-sultant named Mr. Top Cat who came to their home to help Happy be a happy cat.
Happy Comes Home is the story of a family who wanted a cat who would make their cat dreams come true!
So begins an adventure of a cat, a child, and a family trying to find the happiness so many of us seek with our feline friends. Would Happy be allowed to stay? Would Happy settle down? The answers lay in the bond between Happy and Avery, and the common sense behavior tools that Mr. Top Cat brought to the family using his deep understanding of the nature of cats.
As told by Stephen Quandt, a nationally recognized cat behaviorist, and gorgeously hand-illustrated by Thom Heyer, together they have created a story of a cat that you can't help but love, no matter how naughty Happy appears to be.
An absolutely delightful book that shows the importance of patience, kindness, and humor in helping our cats become well-adjusted members of our family. -David Grimm, author of Citizen Canine: Our Evolving Relationship with Cats and Dogs
Happy Comes Home is fun, informative and fur-tastic! Follow along and learn how to get along better with the cats in your life. Maybe even prepare to welcome one into your home! A wealth of information distilled into a tale of one's family's adventure with a new pet.
-Albie Ashbrook, Library Director, Long Hill Township Library
Stephen Quandt offers his feline behavior advice in a fun, colorful tale that is perfect for kids (and even adults!) to learn common cat issues and how, by observing their actions, we can better tell what they need. This is a must-read for any cat lovers trying to dissect their furry friend's strange quirks.
-Aimee Lockhardt, Community Engagement Librarian, Dover Public Library
