Torren Varg Hansen has spent his whole life explaining his middle name. He's never had to explain what it means.
Then his instincts wake. He can smell blood through the soap and steam of the carwash where his father works, and feel a stranger's attention like a cold wire. And one night, creatures that are neither wolf nor man tear through his family's house. They aren't there to kill him. They're there to take him.
His father finally tells him the truth: their family descends from the Twelve, Viking warriors Odin gifted with the spirit of the wolf. Torren is the first in more than a century strong enough to wake that blood, and a being called the Hollow King has been hunting it for a very long time.
Then a girl named Lira steps out of the trees with a single message: You're late.
To survive, Torren must leave his father behind and cross into a hidden world, where every step brings him closer to the enemy who wants what's inside him.
A coming-of-age mythic fantasy rooted in real Viking wolf-warrior lore, where the wolf is the hero, not the monster. Book 1 of the Half-Light series.
For readers of Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase who are ready for something darker.
