A hurricane brought them together. Love made them stay.
When anxious writer Daniel Winters flees to Key West for a month-long writing retreat, he's looking for inspiration and escape from his Brooklyn ex who called him too complicated after learning his HIV status. He's definitely not looking for romance-especially not during hurricane season.
Enter Jake: bartender, hurricane preparedness enthusiast, and the most confident bear Daniel's ever met. With Hurricane Gloria bearing down on the island, Jake takes it upon himself to ensure the clueless mainlander doesn't die in his first tropical storm. But what starts as disaster preparation quickly becomes something more as they're forced to ride out the hurricane together.
In the storm's intimate darkness, Daniel discovers things about himself he never knew-including a deep desire to submit and be cared for by someone who actually knows what they're doing. Jake introduces him to the art of rope bondage with the same steady competence he brings to hurricane prep, teaching Daniel that being held doesn't mean being trapped, and that aftercare might be the love language he never knew he needed.
As Key West rebuilds, Daniel finds himself absorbed into Jake's chaotic, loving queer community-drag queens who throw hurricane parties, leather daddies who run disaster relief, and chosen family who celebrate love in all its forms. For the first time since his diagnosis, Daniel feels truly accepted. But with his New York life calling and his book deadline looming, Daniel must decide: return to his safely isolated existence, or risk everything for a man whose terrible singing and rope collection might just be the home he's been searching for.
HURRICANE SEASON is a sweet and steamy MM romance featuring: ✓ Forced proximity (hurricane lockdown!) ✓ Gentle introduction to kink with enthusiastic consent ✓ Hurt/comfort with a cinnamon roll dom ✓ HIV+ rep with zero shame or angst about status ✓ Found family who place bets on your love life ✓ Competence kink (hurricane preparedness is HOT) ✓ Rope bondage as a love language ✓ Key West's quirky queer community ✓ Aftercare, both physical and emotional ✓ A six-toed cat cameo (because Hemingway)
Content notes: This cozy kink romance contains explicit consensual BDSM scenes including rope bondage, impact play, and sensory play, always with proper negotiation and aftercare. Sex positive, body positive, and featuring an HIV+ MC whose status is treated with respect and normalcy. Hurricane damage occurs but no one is seriously hurt. One ex who's an idiot but no cheating. Heavy rum consumption and terrible karaoke. HEA guaranteed, along with the worst rendition of Margaritaville you've never heard.
Perfect for readers who loved Alexis Hall's BOYFRIEND MATERIAL but wanted more kink, or K.M. Neuhold's FOUR BEARS but wanted more plot with their steam. Grab some rum, board up your windows, and get ready to be blown away by a love story that proves the best things in life come from the storms we weather together.
Sometimes you need a hurricane to blow away everything that isn't real. And sometimes you need a bear with rope to show you how to rebuild.
