Christian Mjomba, a virtuous but naïve seminarian, has a class assignment to write a thesis on Original Virtue; and he becomes an unwitting scribe to Satan. Misled by the practice in Rome that has one of the cardinals (the Promoter of the Faith) play the role of the so-called Advocatus Diaboli (or Devil's Advocate), a role that was established in 1587 by Pope Sixtus V to ensure the rigorous and thorough scrutiny of candidates for sainthood, he falls for the temptation to try and use the devil as his mouthpiece for expounding on the doctrines of the church. He has a runaway imagination; and he fancies that, if he succeeds in doing that, he will effectively make the devil work for the salvation of souls instead of their damnation! And, incredibly, the seminarian appears to succeed in tricking the Evil One (who is also known as the Accuser or Adversary) into working against his own interests and helping him craft a thesis that looks like a definite winner! But it soon starts to dawn on the student that it is Satan who is using him instead of the other way round! And the seminarian's sincere efforts to turn an evil force into good ends up placing his own spiritual welfare in the greatest jeopardy. The story continues even after Mjomba's death; and he discovers, to his great consternation, that he had dropped his guard at some point in the course of dillydallying with that evilest of evil creatures and had actually become demon possessed! Humans, The Untold Story of Adam and Eve and their Descendants explores themes of faith, spirituality and the struggle between good and evil, and the origins of the human inclination to do sin; and it offers new and bold interpretations of Christian thought.
