A House To Let is a collaborative novel written by Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, Wilkie Collins, and Adelaide Anne Procter. The story follows a mysterious house in London that is available for rent, but no one seems to know who the landlord is. The house is eventually rented by a young couple, but strange occurrences begin to happen, including ghostly apparitions and unexplained noises. As the story unfolds, the tenants and their friends uncover a dark secret about the house's past and the people who used to live there. The novel is a blend of mystery, suspense, and supernatural elements, and showcases the unique writing styles of each of the four authors involved in its creation. At one period of its reverses, the House fell into the occupation of a Showman. He was found registered as its occupier, on the parish books of the time when he rented the House, and there was therefore no need of any clue to his name. But, he himself was less easy to be found; for, he had led a wandering life, and settled people had lost sight of him--by Dickens and others. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
