Scattered by economic ruin, Leo becomes a man of iron and precision in the salvage yards of Ohio, while Maya masters the geometry of the void in the high-rises of Chicago. But the ridge never let go. Called back by scratchy, time-dilated voices in the static, they return to the ruins in 2038 as the only architects capable of operating a machine they are only beginning to understand.

To find their way back, they must bridge the gap with total, unshielded honesty-realizing that the only anchor stronger than the bedrock is their shared intent.
