When Sergeant Daniel Danny Fontaine's troop plane is shot down during the Allied airborne invasion on D-Day, he finds himself alone in France, separated from his platoon and lost behind enemy lines. In his search to rejoin his platoon, he encounters a patrol of Germans who have captured a large wolf.
