The most complete history of Green Island and Ballast Island in Lake Erie, this book contains many previously unpublished photos. Green Island is famous for its two former lighthouses and stories about those, as well as for well documented caving and mining activities. Ballast Island was the former headquarters of the Cleveland Club and later the summer headquarters of the U.S. Canoe and Kayak Club. It is a now private island with 7 homes. These two islands are near the popular Bass Islands in western Lake Erie that far more has been written about. However, both of these islands have extensive history that has never been well documented, and many of the old photos in this book highlight aspects of the islands that have not been well known.
