Calvin is a pilot and aircraft engineer running his own aviation business in North Queensland, Australia. His company operates vintage C-47/DC-3 aircraft, flying mining operations and charter services across the rugged Australian outback.During one routine flight returning to Townsville, Calvin experiences something impossible-he suddenly finds himself transported back in time. In another life, he is the Squadron Leader of a Mosquito bomber squadron flying a dangerous bombing raid over wartime Europe.
When Calvin returns to the present, the experience leaves him shaken but determined to uncover the truth. He soon discovers that the man he became in the past is real: a now-retired Air Vice Marshal living quietly in a rest home. Even more astonishing, Calvin is the spitting image of the elderly officer. The Air Vice Marshal possesses a detailed diary chronicling the most significant events of his long flying career. As Calvin studies the entries, he realizes that the aircraft he recently purchased online-a dismantled C-47 from Long Beach, California-has a remarkable and secret history tied directly to the old man.The aircraft had flown through some of the most pivotal moments of modern history: the D-Day landings, the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War, and later the Vietnam conflict, where it was secretly operated by the CIA as a gunship. Hidden within the aircraft are classified documents connected to covert missions and political assassinations. But Calvin is not the only one who knows the plane still exists.A powerful organization has discovered that the aircraft-and the secrets it holds-could expose some of the most influential people in the world. Determined to prevent the truth from surfacing, they begin sabotaging Calvin's business and hunting for the plane. As the attacks intensify, Calvin finds himself repeatedly slipping back into the past, reliving moments of history and unknowingly altering events. Each time he returns to the present, the Air Vice Marshal's diary begins to change-its pages rewriting themselves as the timeline shifts. In Calvin's final return to the present, the old Air Vice Marshal passes away, leaving the diary in Calvin's hands. Before his death, the old man visits a war cemetery one last time-only to discover that many of the men who had supposedly died in combat are no longer buried there.Because Calvin changed history, they lived full lives.
