In the delightful innocence of these dog stories for children, authoress Gerd Conte in the tradition of Aesop's Fables is able to look at life in a kindly way. The playful interaction of families and their canine companions teaches moral lessons to counteract today's cynical, hard-edged, war-torn world. This is a playful book in which Mrs. Conte is recommending that parents rediscover the pure, uncorrupted innocence of childhood that only play can release and reflect -- all the more when there are pets in the family. Children play naturally from an early age and learn about the world around them through games, role-playing imagination and imitation of adults, whilst their understanding of play for its own sake is uninhibited by adult values and constructs. Stories such as these help to bolster in the child a good and virtuous life.
