Tyra Thurell hears about a lost Parsi treasure and begins to search. However, the Indian Parsi community is not thrilled with her persistence and kidnap her in the hope of dissuading her from looking further. Upon her release and angered by their treatment of her she pursues clues some Sikh friends uncover and they assist her in the hunt.. The Parsi treasure is suspected to be in a Hindu temple attached to the trunk of the famous god, Ganesha. They find the Elephant's trunk and a Greek parchment in the same complex.. It is a lost manuscript attributed to Thomas, the Jewish disciple of Jesus. Therein lies the clues to where a far greater treasure, the Signpost, is hidden. In her journeys she meets an American engineer who is hiding personal secrets and his flight from terrorists concocting a deadly poison thrusts him into company with the young woman.
