Grandpa's Flashlight is a gentle, heartfelt story about grief, remembrance, and the kind of love that never truly leaves us.
Jake is a little boy with a great big heart, and one of his favorite people in the world is his grandpa. When Grandpa passes away unexpectedly, Jake struggles with sadness and misses him deeply.
One evening, Jake's father points to the bright moon and explains that it is like a special flashlight from heaven-a warm light Grandpa turns on each night to remind Jake that he is still surrounded by love. As Jake grows older, the moon becomes a comforting symbol of courage, connection, and treasured memories.
Years later, Jake shares Grandpa's story with his own daughter, Lilly, passing the message of enduring love from one generation to the next. Together, their family continues a special Christmas Eve tradition of lighting candles for the loved ones they carry in their hearts.
With soft, child-friendly illustrations and simple, reassuring language, Grandpa's Flashlight helps children understand that sadness and happy memories can exist together. The book also includes a note for grown-ups, thoughtful conversation questions, and a family remembrance message.
A comforting read for children and families learning how to hold on to love while saying goodbye.
