A Brozian insectoid cargo vessel from another galaxy spits out of a wormhole into the Milky Way Galaxy only to explode in mid-air and crash in the forest of Arusha National Park in Tanzania. Allison Banes, a zoology doctorate student, witnesses the explosion, later to discover a half-feline half-human, Catusapien on the ground sleeping next to an escape pod. She takes the extraterrestrial to her Arusha neighborhood house for observation.
According to Chagga prophecy, the alien is necessary to partake in a ritual that will end the nearly two hundred-year-old supernatural curse of the Evil Shadowy Figure on the Bantu tribe. The havoc wreaking Evil Shadowy Figure spirit wants to eliminate the alien and anyone else who tries to participate in the ritual. While members of the Chagga search for the alien, Cassidy Mkama, an 11-year-old African girl, finds and forms a lifelong bond with the creature she will name Gotham Kitty.
