A jar can hold coins. But can it hold a promise?
The Money Tree Club has solved a mystery, repaired their records, and learned that every dollar needs a clear story. Now Sophie, Jayden, Mia, and Leo are ready for a new challenge at the community center.
A worn bilingual reading kit needs help. Its markers are fading, its storage pouch will not close, and families are asking for more stories they can enjoy together. When Ms. Rivera introduces an empty glass jar for a supervised community project, the children are excited to fill it.
First, they must decide what the jar is truly for.
Sophie wants more books. Mia dreams of creating a space themed reading kit. Leo imagines animal puppets and dramatic story cards. Jayden believes the center should repair what it already has before buying anything new. Every idea sounds helpful, but responsible giving begins with listening to the people who will use the gift.
As the Giving Jar project grows, the club faces decisions that are more complicated than simply counting coins. A cost estimate changes. A completion promise is made too soon. Expected money never arrives. A quarter is found beneath a counting mat. A torn display creates a tempting shortcut. One contribution comes with a purpose that does not match the project.
The children soon discover that good intentions are only the beginning. Shared money must be protected, recorded honestly, and used for the purpose people trusted it to serve.
Through friendship, humor, family support, and real childhood choices, the Money Tree Club learns that responsibility often appears in the quiet jobs no one wants to do. It means correcting mistakes openly, respecting privacy, following through on promises, and choosing a useful goal instead of the most impressive one.
Perfect for families, classrooms, libraries, and guided reading, The Giving Jar introduces young readers to responsibility, stewardship, designated funds, expected money, community input, receipts, supervised giving, and honest financial decision making in an engaging story children can understand.
Can the club complete the reading kit before Family Reading Night without breaking the trust placed inside the jar?
The Giving Jar is Book Seven in The Money Tree Series, where four friends learn one practical money lesson at a time through friendship, family, and everyday adventures.
