The Giant Scissors is a children's novel written by Annie Fellows Johnston. The story is set in the late 1800s and follows the lives of two sisters, Joyce and Peggy, who are living with their grandparents in a small town in Kentucky. The sisters are very close and share a love for storytelling and imagination. However, their lives are turned upside down when their grandfather falls ill and they are sent to live with their strict and unloving Aunt Jane in the city.Aunt Jane is a wealthy woman who values order and discipline above all else. She believes that the girls' imaginative tendencies are foolish and tries to suppress their creativity. However, the girls soon discover a magical pair of giant scissors that have the power to cut through anything, including time and space. With the help of the scissors, the sisters embark on a series of adventures that take them to different times and places, including ancient Egypt and medieval Europe. As they journey through these different worlds, the sisters learn valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and the power of imagination. They also discover the true meaning of family and the importance of staying true to oneself. The Giant Scissors is a heartwarming tale that encourages children to embrace their creativity and explore the world around them.1898.
