November 1, 1993: Noir Chains don't realize they've played their last show. As they drop their charismatic and handsome lead singer, Tristan King, off at his home, all they can think about is how they rocked the stage, how they're on their way to finally grabbing that record deal, how making their mark on the music world is imminent. They have no idea that the following afternoon, they will find Tristan dead in his living room. Or that the police have no suspects and won't for years. That no one will find the murder weapon. That the case will go cold.
October 31, 2023: Dolores Queen doesn't realize all the rumors surrounding 168 RF Prospect Drive when she moves in. She only knows her aunt and father haven't been able to sell their flip for years and she's doing them a favor by keeping the house occupied in the meantime. When she hears about the unsolved crime that took place in the living room, she's interested in the mystery, but not in the stories of the place being haunted. After all, Dolores is absolutely sure of one thing in life: There is no such thing as ghosts.
But from night one, strange things begin happening. A group of ghost hunters try to break in, only to be deterred when one claims they have been punched by an invisible hand. Electronics act up. Objects move on their own.
And Tristan King appears.
Neither knows why Dolores is the only one who can see and hear the ghost after thirty years, but regardless of why, Dolores isn't looking for a roommate, especially not one who never sleeps, hates the music she listens to, and is as Gen X as she is Gen Z. Since Tristan says ghosts don't remember their deaths, Dolores decides maybe the only way he can rest in peace is to solve the mystery of who killed him.
But the crime isn't the only thing Dolores is finding difficult to figure out. The more time she and Tristan spend together, the more complicated her feelings become for the specter in her home. And as secrets are revealed, she finds the two souls aren't as different as she thinks.
