General Von Steuben is a biography written by John McAuley Palmer that tells the story of Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, a Prussian military officer who played a critical role in the American Revolutionary War. The book chronicles Von Steuben's life from his early years in Prussia to his arrival in America, where he offered his services to General George Washington. Von Steuben's contributions to the American army were significant, as he helped to train and discipline the troops, and played a key role in the Battle of Monmouth. The book also explores Von Steuben's personal life, including his relationships with other military leaders and his struggles with illness. Overall, General Von Steuben is a fascinating account of a little-known hero of the American Revolution, and a must-read for anyone interested in this period of history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
