This book offers a rigorous and deeply human exploration of a vast theological misunderstanding: the idea that the Bible condemns homosexuality. Through an investigation that weaves together exegesis, history, linguistics, and anthropology, the author demonstrates that such a condemnation simply does not exist - because concepts such as sexual orientation, intimate identity, or same-sex couples had no place in the world of the Bible.
By restoring each passage to its historical, social, and linguistic context, the book reveals that the texts traditionally invoked (Sodom, Leviticus, Romans 1, Paul) address violence, idolatry, abuse, or domination - but never loving relationships between people of the same sex. Since Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic contain no words for homosexuality, modern condemnations emerge as misunderstandings born of late translations, Greek philosophical influences, and medieval fears.
The book then traces how Christian history gradually constructed a hostile doctrine that was foreign to the message of Jesus. It presents the converging work of contemporary theologians and scholars - Boswell, Vines, Brownson, Martin, Althaus-Reid, and others - who show that nothing in the Bible targets modern same-sex relationships based on love and fidelity.
The work does not stop at deconstruction: it offers an inclusive Christian theology grounded in Christ, the Golden Rule, human dignity, and the fruits of love. It opens the way to a Church both coherent and faithful to the Gospel, where LGBT+ people are not merely tolerated but recognized as fully loved by God.
